Leather skirts are in for fall, and I’ll be honest with you: I prefer a suede skirt. Why? Because I can wear it with leather tall boots without looking like a school marm who rides a Harley. For me the leather skirt and leather boots is often too much leather, but suede, with its subtle texture, feels less overpowering.

My mom loved suede skirts just like these. She had one and always wanted to wear it but could never figure out how to style it. She also longed to own a horse and live in a rural area despite our city lives. When she died, we buried her body in her calf-length suede skirt with fringe on the bottom. I imagine she immediately was ready to jump on her horse in her cowgirl outfit when she arrived on the other side. And seeing this post today made me wish that I could send it to her, and also made me smile – maybe she was just ahead of her time in this respect too.
