Work Dress Week: A Bright and Sunny Dress

Apr 24, 2023

The weather has finally turned sunny. Warm, not so much.  But I am ready to wear dresses, so I have decreed that this week is Work Dress Week.  Let’s get started.

Yellow is not a color that I wear very often.  I have one cocktail dress and one casual top, but I get so many compliments when I wear them, it might be time for more yellow.

This Donna Ricco Knotted Midi Sheath Dress is a great piece to wear under jackets.  The color is bright and vibrant.  The neckline is very cool.  I wish it had sleeves, but we can’t have everything we want in life.  And I can always add a cream or light gray blazer.

Other yellow dresses that caught my eye include this crepe sheath dress with a defined waist and cap sleeve.  This abstract floral print dress with a short sleeve is great.  I also like this Maggy London dress with an origami sleeve.  Plus-size?  This Verishop wrap midi-dress is awesome.

Can I make a request for pumping friendly dresses during this week? I used to wear dresses all the time for my in-office days, but they haven’t seen the light of day since last summer cuz I’d have to get practically naked to be able to pump. And while our lactation rooms are technically locked with a code, it’s not a risk I’m willing to take.

Anna, for what it’s worth, for my pumping ~journey~ in a locked office, I found pumping bras to be too uncomfortable and unsightly (due to all the padding that folds up weirdly) to wear all day, so I had to change bras each time I needed to pump…so I quickly gave up on my Seraphine pumping-friendly dresses and just looked for dresses that either button down the front or zip down the back. Unbutton/unzip to the waist, change bras, put on nursing cover in case of lock failure*, pump. Top / pants are probably easier, but like you, I prefer dresses.

*I kept one at my desk along with my work pumping gear.

Also can you include dresses with pockets?

Saw It On Social: Rooted

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]
