Outfit Week: Drama for the Office

Jul 19, 2022

Heaven knows, I love a print.  And the best prints for the office are big, bold and monochromatic.  So when I spotted this blouse, I knew it was the one.

This Bella Dahl Shirred Top is intentionally oversized.  So how do you keep from looking like it will swallow you whole?

You pair it with a slim-fitting bottom.  This pencil skirt from Reiss is on deep discount and worth every penny.  I love the color, the panel detail and the ability to add another neutral to my wardrobe.  Sure, I could have done a simple black pencil skirt for <$75 or some white trousers, but this color combo feels fresh and summery.

In an ideal world, I would be able to find a “nude” shoe with an undercurrent of pink to match the skirt.  But the shoe selection hasn’t come back post pandemic.  This Vince Camuto pump is the best choice at Bloomingdale’s.  Searching outside the retailer, Nordstrom has these Michael Kors Flex Pumps in light blush.  The Kors Flex line is very comfortable for work wear.

Finishing up this look, I’d choose these simple black studs from Ralph Lauren.  They pull the look up by taking the color of the blouse and lifting it to your face.  Plus, they’re a versatile choice to wear with other outfits.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
