Two Ways: The Perfect Tank Dress

Jul 27, 2020

Sometimes you spot an item and you know instantly that you will wear it all the time.  This H&M dress is one of those pieces.  The soft green color, the subtle thigh slit, the relaxed shape, it’s all fabulous.

The Dress // This H&M Tank Top Dress is so cute.  It comes in four great colors — the khaki, the charcoal, pink, and deep rust. I like the little thigh slit for ventilation — a breeze on a hot day is always appreciated. And did I mention it’s under-$15?

Left // I like combining shades from the same color family.  Blending the soft khaki/sage of the dress and the dark olive sweater from Express is a classic look for sitting around your chilly home office.  I love the airiness of the cardigan so it won’t be too hot.

This look also blends perfectly into the early fall. The color palette is seamless from July to October, depending on your weather.

To finish it up, add these simple crossover sandals, a coordinating olive crossbody and a cool pair of half hoop earrings.

For the hair, I like day-old, dry shampoo hair in a loose wave.  I’m not wearing much makeup these days — just Cicapair — but I think I’m going to start painting my nails for a little something extra.  I especially like this dark CND ‘Married to the Mauve‘ with the green color palette.

Right // Tying a button up shirt over a tank dress is a quick way to ‘dress up’ for a Zoom call.  This photo will show you how the look should work.  But it gives you a quick professional look that you can take right off when you’re done.

This J.Crew Everyday Chambray Shirt is a great choice.  It’s the perfect washed out blue shade and has a wonderful structure to it.  It also comes in petite and tall.

I added this Madewell belt bag for running errands. This pair of moonstone earrings are pretty fantastic, I love the femininity and the earthiness.  And these simple Veja sneakers have been on the quarantine must-have list for a lot of women.

For the hair, a half up or teased ponytail is how I would go.  I might also put on a bit of red lipstick, which with the Zoom filter gets it done most days.

This is the best dress! I also have it in gray. It’s so comfortable and looks put together even though it’s just a tee shirt.

I also have this dress. The material is very thin – nice for a hot day, but I recommend sizing up so it’s more forgiving.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
