Last Week’s Most Popular: February 10, 2020

Feb 10, 2020

February: spring is coming, but it’s still 35-degrees outside.  Last week, we covered everything from Valentine’s Day lingerie to affordable business suits.  Here were your reader favorites.

Love Ady Peplum Dress.  In 13 colors, and running from XS to XXL, this ruffle cap-sleeve dress is a lovely, affordable work option.  The cap sleeve makes it wearable in the warm weather or layer-able in the cold.  I bought two sizes and liked the slightly larger one best; the fit was more flattering.

Topshop Cabo Low Tops. How cute are these spotted sneakers for casual wear?  They’re a nice alternative to the Superga leopard sneakers that I’ve been wearing all winter.  Wear sneakers often?  Check out these spotted Madewell sneakers are so chic it should be criminal.

Loft Cascade Open Cardigan. This drape-front cardigan is a chic, feminine topper for work dresses and separates.  I love the fluid quality of the neckline and the wide trim.  The sizing runs up to XXL, and it’s also available in petite.

Thistle & Spire Kane Bra. This lacy bra was the most popular item from the lingerie post.  It has a unique look that really sets it apart from the rest of the bras on the rack.  Other popular items included this comfortable Palindrome lace romper and this plus-size Oh La La Babydoll.

Ole Henriksen Facial Sauna Scrub. This soothing, purifying scrub is the perfect thing for cleaning up winter skin.  It’s warming and cooling and reveals brighter and smoother skin.  It’s my new favorite.

Belle & Bloom Almost Famous Satchel. A great work bad is always welcome in my wardrobe.  This top-handle black satchel has a center divider, good organization, and shoulder strap for commuting.  The details are also gorgeous.  And for under-$100, it’s a great extra bag or first professional bag.

Lucky Number Seven. What was the seventh most popular item on the blog last week?

This herringbone business suit from J.Crew Factory just barely missed the list.  Their classic work blazer in black or grey would also make a nice suit when paired with their classic work pencil.  Sizes run 00-24, and most suits also come in petite.

I immediately ordered the Thistle & Spire Kane bra from Bloomie’s, but they only had size 32B and it didn’t quite fit my itty-bitty boobs right. I loved the style though, so I ordered a few similar styles from the Thistle & Spire website in size 32A (they don’t have a ton of options in that size, but I couldn’t find it stocked anywhere else at all). LOVE the Minna bra, and even the Mirage bra which uses a slightly scratchier mesh is still a super flattering fit.

I’ll be stalking this brand for lingerie in the future, because finding attractive non-juvenile options in size 32A can be just as hard as finding size 32G. (I actually measure as a 30B or a very shallow 30C, but I don’t have a lot of ribcage padding and prefer a looser band fit.)

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
