Morning Line: January 22

Jan 22, 2016

Being back in an office again is a strange feeling.  Dressing up each day is made a little easier by having a versatile shoe wardrobe.  They bring a bit of punch to otherwise staid separates.

I get a lot of wear, and a lot of compliments, on my leopard pumps.  Years ago, my Mother tried to convinced me that leopard was a good idea.  I wasn’t having it.  God, it hurts when she’s right.

Technically, the top and bottom shoes are cheetah print; the middle shoe is leopard. 😉

But they’re all lovely and, I agree, can definitely add the perfect kick to an outfit. I’m so sad to need to soon retire my leopard print Steve Madden pointed-toe skimmers — the were *perfect* (purrfect?).

  2. Valerie says:

Funny that you mention your mother, because mine bought me a pair of leopard-print flats a while ago (“to spruce up your work clothes”). I didn’t think they were my style and avoided wearing them for a while. Then one day in a morning clothing rut, I put them on and was convinced.

I think the key is to pair them with neutral, solid colors; that way it looks edgy rather than “inspired by the Real Housewives of Las Vegas.”

    • Not technically your mother says:

+1 I also think this crazysexycool pattern in flats is a lot different – more corporate more professional – than in a great-looking pump.

  3. Jenn S. says:

I just can’t make myself love them for me. I’ve seen them pulled off and look so damn chic, but I can’t bring myself to do it. Amusingly enough, I have a MUCH younger sister who wants All Leopard Everything.
    And I do mean *everything*.

Tortoise, on the other hand, I definitely dig. I think you style it similarly.

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
