Casual Mondays.  Pastels are in for fall.  Words I never thought that I would write on this blog.  But the pale shades of spring are on every fashion blog, magazine page and runway, so this outfit brings in a ballet pink sweater.

Need a pink sweater for less?  Try this Angora sweater from The Outnet or this 3/4 sleeve sweater from Halogen.  If pink is not your thing, try a pale blue or lavender sweater with the blue skirt.

I chose silver jewelry for this outfit, so this textured statement necklace is a great contrast to the prim sweater.  I also added the earrings because they perfectly complemented the blue skirt, but had a warm opalescence to them.

If you’d like a more glamorous shoe, try these Steven Walker pewter pumps.  Want a flat?  Try this Rowen Ivy shoe.

For the hair, I would wear it down with the ends curled under or in a wave.  For the makeup, I would resist the temptation to wear pale pink lipstick.  Instead, choose a more sophisticated raspberry shade, like Philosophy raspberry sorbet.

For Casual Friday.  You could wear this outfit on the weekends, or on casual Fridays as an alternative to jeans.  As you can see, I’ve followed the 2-out-of-3 rule and paired the blue skirt with brown tights and brown boots.  You could also choose grey tights and boots, if you prefer.

I paired an ivory cable-knit sweater with a vest for a relaxed, American-sportswear look.  Prefer a vest not made of loud unnatural material?  Try this Parker vest from Need Supply that looks a lot like the herringbone vest from J.Crew everyone had to have last year.  Plus-size? Try this Eddie Bauer year-round vest.

I’ve been searching for a reason to use this bracelet again, so I’m happy that the colors paired well with the skirt.  I also like the mix of paprika and blue together.  Prefer a blazer in the same color?  Try this Kasper blazer.

For the hair, I would wear it up in a twisted, messy bun.  For the makeup, I would choose a rosy-nude lip pencil and a sable shadow.  I’d also pump up my eyes with some liquid black liner.

Shoe Week: One Last Summer Shoe

It’s been a fun week talking about shoes. A former co-worker texted me yesterday and asked what shoe I would buy, if I were only going to buy one shoe for summer. And, of course, I told her that I have two suggestions. Her response: “Typical.”

Shoe Week: A High Heel Alternative

Next month, I’m spending a week in Salt Lake for work. My ability to wear high heels went out with the pandemic, so what am I putting on my feet? These.
