Clockwise from Upper Left, French Connection Crossbody Bag ($88) // Sole Society Lisette Top Handle ($99) // Halogen Embossed Flap Clutch ($88) // Emperia Samanta Bag ($52) // Danielle Nicole Adeline Satchel ($98)

I love Nordstrom.  It is my go-to choice for so many things.  Recently, I noticed that their website was brimming with great, fiscally feasible handbags, and I just had to share some of my favorites.  Because there is no reason why a budget bag needs to be short on style.

White and Black prints are very popular this season.  I fell in love with this Dalmatian print Alice + Olivia tote (just call me Cruella, you’d hardly be the first), but $695?  Publisher’s Clearing House hasn’t shown up at my door, so I need something less expensive.

This J.Crew Marlie Tweed purse is a great option at $248.  I also love this Milly Dalmatian bag at $450, but those are both more than I am looking to spend on a trendy piece.  The French Connection bag above fits my style and my wallet perfectly.  Plus, it can work as a crossbody or an oversize clutch.

Frame Bags are always a favorite of mine.  They have a sleek, ladylike elegance that reminds me of a 1950s movie star.  The dove grey bag from Sole Society is a lovely piece with an equally lovely price.

If you prefer your top-handle handbags with a bit more modern feel, check out this Rachel Roy Tailored Frame Satchel or this Madewell Mini Frame Crossbody in green.

Envelope Clutches are a simple, versatile addition to any closet.  This bag from Halogen comes in a half-dozen colors from pretty pastels (wear them with camel and charcoal for fall) to dark neutrals.  It’s also much larger than it looks in the photo, measuring in at a respectable 14″ by 8″.

In need of something under-$50?  VC Signature offers this berry-colored, embossed clutch, and DSW is selling this two-tone bag with a sculpted hinge.

Top Handle Crossbody Bags can do double duty as structured satchels and messenger bag alternatives.  The bottom two bags in this set are great examples of how a modern shape and a handful of chic details can be appropriated from a designer line (Alexander Wang), and remade into a bag most of us can afford.

I think this shade of green will be spectacular with camel, grey or black for fall.  I also think the black bag is the kind of thing I would reach for whenever I wanted something with more pop than a basic satchel.

In the under-$100 price range, I also found this black Emperia tote bag with a Celine-style handle.  This wine-colored Danielle Nicole bag is also lovely.

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
