Free Screening of the Documentary Dressed

Sep 27, 2011

NextThursday night (Oct. 6th), Bethesda Row is kicking off their annual Boutique Week with a free screening of the fashion documentary DRESSED.

The documentary tells the story of fashion designer Nary Manivong who overcame a tumultuous childhood marked by homelessness and poverty to become one of the few designers lucky enough to show a collection at New York Fashion Week.  Beyond the inspiring story, the documentary also gives you a peak into the world of fashion and talks to other designers and tastemakers (Nanette Lepore, Simon Doonan, Robert Verdi) to find out how they made it in one of the world’s most fickle and difficult industries.

After the screening, Holly Thomas, The Washington Post’s fashion guru, will host a Q+A with Nary and the documentary’s director.  The screening is free to anyone who would like to attend, just email dressed@brandlinkdcrsvp.com to reserve your spot.

In addition to the DC premiere of DRESSED, Bethesda Row Boutique Week is going to be a blast.  Urban Chic is having a Shoshanna Pop-Up Shop with 15-percent-off Shoshanna purchases.  Sassanova is having a Kate Spade trunk show.  For those of you who love Citizen denim, Luna is having a buy one, get one 20-percent-off sale on jeans.  And Ginger is having a big trunk show with two of my favorites, White + Warren and Love Quotes.

Let’s face it, there is no shopping venue in the D.C.-Metro Area that is killing it like Bethesda Row when it comes to great events.  Georgetown, Old Town and Mid City are getting better, but Bethesda Row is setting the bar pretty high.  So if you’re in the mood, catch the Red Line up to Bethesda for some retail therapy and a documentary.

I’d also suggest you stop by Mon Ami for the baked goat cheese appetizer, it’s Belle tested, Miss M approved.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
