Sometimes, it’s nice to play dress up–to think outside the box and choose an outfit that is nothing like your every day attire. So while I may structured suits and feminine dresses every day, I like the idea of spicing up my holiday attire with a pair of easy-fitting sequin shorts and a studded clutch.
While I usually deplore shorts (because most women over 22 just don’t have the legs for them), a pair of sequin shorts with very opaque tights, is another matter entirely. The tights firm and slim the leg, while concealing imperfections and skin issues. And since the shorts aren’t clinging to your thighs for dear life, they are more flattering than your typical chino short.

If you’re still not sold on the idea of shorts, you can also try sequined leggings. I like both the full-sequin legging and the more subtle tuxedo legging with a sequined stripe. But if you wear the leggings, I would consider buying a longer jacket to cover your tush. Even if you’re not pear shaped, long, tailored jackets make a lady look taller and sleeker.
You have convinced me to wear sequin shorts for Christmas. And I still can't believe I'm saying that.
Every time I see sparkly shorts, I just think of fake wrestlers. Like the kind who throw chairs at their opponent and wear silly makeup. Sorry!
I'm with Katherine. If they were red, white and blue, I'd think of the Globetrotters.
I think in a year or so people will look back and think, sequin shorts?? what an awful trend that was!
Oh but I also must add, I assumed the same with Uggs but unfortunately they didn't go away =
I really kind of love those sequin leggings. Sequin shorts are a little Columbia from Rocky Horror for me. But I love the outfit otherwise.
