Shapeways, The Missing Piece

Jan 10, 2011

Finding interesting pieces of jewelry on a Staffer’s budget can be difficult.  This is why I, and so many of my readers, love Etsy.  So when I discovered another website that allows you to purchase handcrafted, artists designed jewelry at surprisingly low prices, I knew that I had to share with the class.

I miss you! Ring (Shapeways, $14)

Shapeways is a community of designers who create 3-D custom pieces at reasonable prices.  I love this little ring, and at just $14, I don’t have to feel guilty about buying it.

If you’re really creative and/or tech savvy (not me!), you can design your own pieces.  If you need a little help operating the site, Shapeways will pair you with a designer who can help you craft a piece that distinctly yours.  What a great way to give your loved one a personalized gift.

Also, the site sells a lot more than just jewelry.  You can find housewares, decorative items, games and gadgets.  For example, I love this little egg cup.  The bird’s nest design would be perfect for an Easter brunch or as a placecard holder at a wedding.

Shapeways is definitely a great resource for anyone who wants to own (or create) a unique piece of jewelry, a piece of art, or a meaningful memento.  Now, if I could only stop myself from ordering all of the neat little trinkets that I find on the site.  Must use self control…

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
