Long Read.  How much money is ‘enough’? Chasing more endlessly makes you miserable, here’s a number to shoot for.

Do you follow The Buy Guide on Instagram?  If you do, you’ve seen the saga of the Stanley Adventure Quencher traveling mug. If not, they have an entire explainer in their highlights.

Long story short, the TBG ladies were so obsessed with the Stanley Adventure Quencher that they convinced the company to make it in pastel colors.  Then, the ladies got all of their influencer pals to promote the traveling mugs, and they sold out in every color in four hours.  And now, the pastel traveling mugs are reselling on eBay for 4-6x their value.  Proving that influencer marketing works.

Several friends own these Adventure Quencher mugs and swear by them for keeping hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold.  They are the new Hydroflask.  So if you’d like one, the pastels are long gone, but the traditional colors are still available.

Similar tumbler but it’s designed to be virtually spill-proof. It’s fantastic.

MySisterMadeMeBuyIt on Instagram did a test with the Stanley water tumbler and a few others that looked at rate of ice melting, drink staying cold, etc. The Stanley cups were by far the worst. The Reduce tumblers that fit in the cup holders fared much better.

Thanks for the article on “getting ahead.” The pressure doesn’t stop after your twenties. But it reminded me to stop, look around, and ask whose race I’m running.

  4. C says:

Ok the Stanely cup was something I REALLY WANTED (absolutely influenced) but it turned out to be kind of terrible. I live in DC and thought this would be perfect for stroller adventures with my toddler but the cups spill all the time and are super heavy. The spilling is due to the fact that the straw/drink hole is huge and the plastic cover closure thingy is flimsy so liquids splash out when “closed” (I got a replacement part from Stanley it’s still doesn’t work). So any time we hit a tiny bump on a sidewalk, hot coffee would go flying. Or water would spill all over the stroller. It’s also too heavy to use in the car, have to really lift it out of the cupholder. I might use it at the office to make sure I’m drinking enough water but it’s definitely not the essential mom accessory I thought it might be.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
