The Brand: Iris & Ink

Jan 28, 2020

Apologies for the late post.  I pushed a WordPress update last night, and it shook up some things on the backend.  But it should be all fixed now.

I decided to add a new feature to the morning post, a post talking about the brands of clothing, shoes, and accessories that I think knock it out of the park.  These are the brands that I search through when I need to fill a hole in my wardrobe or when I’m looking for something to wear to a specific event.  And the first brand up is the The Outnet’s in-house line, Iris & Ink.

Iris & Ink bridges the gap for those of us who want work appropriate clothing that also has modern styling and fashion-forward details.  The prices are typically mid-tier, with most items costing under-$175.  The Outnet also offers free shipping and free returns, and if this is your first time shopping the site, you can take 15% off with code FIRST15.

The Outnet’s only failing is the sizing.  Most items run only to a UK14, which is a US 12.  I’ve spoken to the brand’s PR team in the past about their willingness to expand the size range, and I hope they make strides to be more inclusive in the future.

Here are some of my favorite pieces that they currently have on offer.

Magenta Stella Sheath ($82)

Cream Aspen Wrap Blouse ($110)

Black Madison Belted Crepe Blazer ($185)

Toka 18k Gold Hammered Pendant Necklace ($70)

Ivory Meadow Print Blouse ($120)

Ocotillo Belted Wrap Dress ($170)

Hey, just for reference – a UK size 14 equates to a US 10. I love this brand but it’s too tricky for me re: sizing!

I love the style of Iris & Ink but I’ve been disappoitned with the quality and the fabric in the past. While a lot of their items are fantastic (some great wool & silk pieces) I generally can find a natural fiber option for the same price as their polyester pieces. Polyester + east coast summer humidity has not been kind to me in the past. But I agree, Iris & Ink has some really fantastic pieces!!

the styles look great and i def would be interested in them… but you are right the size range is very disappointing. ending at a US 10 does not reflect modern consumers in any way. i hope they listen to the feedback and reconsider pronto.

I bought a structured bag, big enough for a laptop from Iris & Ink a couple of years ago that became my daily work bag. It is a pink/grey/mouse colour and is showing no signs of wear at all. Fabulous style and quality.

The Find: A Versatile Sweater Jacket

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.
