I hate boring sweaters. It’s true that everyone needs a black, v-neck, cashmere sweater, but beyond that, I try to steer clear of boring crewnecks and turtlenecks and v-necks. Because, as I mentioned last week, a sweater and black pants does not an outfit make. I think the camel-colored J.Crew sweater from this morning is perfect for Fall without being too boring or too trendy.
Also, let me apologize in advance, I’m coming down with a cold. So there’s a little less commentary than usual since I went to bed at 10PM.
I love a hooded sweater or sweatshirt under a blazer. It’s casual, but it’s pulled together also. This fantastic celadon tweed blazer is the perfect compliment to the heathered-camel sweater. Add a fun flat shoe, a coordinating bag in dark green and a pair of rose gold studs and you’re all set.
Sweaters look great when wore over pleated skirts. Here, I paired a printed Tucker skirt with knee high boots for a classic, breezy Fall look.
I added a pair of high-heeled boots to finish off the look. You can wear tights if you want, but the skirt is more than long enough to cover your knees. Roll up the sleeves, throw on some fun bangles and grab a colored purse (this one is navy) to complete the ensemble.
This sweater is a great piece to throw on for a Saturday morning strolling the shops. Grab a pair of skinny jeans and a fun buckled boot for the classic Fall outfit. I added a bronze bag to make it a bit more interesting and finished it off with a cool, enamel bangle. Put your hair in a high bun, put on your aviators and shop in style.
Please stop posting such cute purses, it is very bad for my checking account 🙂
I was not a fan of the sweater when I saw it in this morning's post, but after seeing it paired with these three outfits… I must now own. Seriously, couldn't stand the sweater this am and just became obsessed and broke down and purchased on-line so I would stop getting distracted and back to work! Love it!
If I had the funds I'd buy every item on the first set. Brilliant!
This is actually a request, Belle, and I apologize for hijacking the comments here — though I completely agree with Jessica regarding the first set; the color of that bag is impeccable. My appeal is as follows: I just (impulse) purchased this (bordering-on-jack-o-lantern?) orange blouse from the Kate Spade flash sale: https://tinyurl.com/62bs52h. Do you have any ideas on how to style it?
I had my reasons for clicking “add to bag”– a new job is requiring me to up my work wardrobe ante; a bright silk shell is an easy, versatile piece to put into rotation; orange is on-point this fall; online flash sales get me every time, etc. — however, now that my order is confirmed I’m left wondering how to pull it off in practice. Can I pair it with Navy? Brown? Could I go for color-blocking? I know you don’t normally take these kinds of request but I beg you to work some polyvore magic.
Do you do this for a living? I need you in my life! All of these ensembles are amazing.
Only the Belle could take a hoodie (an article of clothing I immediately associate with scruffy high school and college students) and make it work for not one, not two, but THREE chic outfits! You never cease to amaze. Good luck with your cold – hopefully it's just a little (and brief) one!
I want everything. In all three sets. Shouldn't there be some kind of discount for that?

Hi Belle,
I love these looks! Nicely done. Any reason why the sweater isn't on jcrew.com? I have a gift card and I'd love it to go towards such an awesome sweater!
Again, you're killing it with the 3 ways as of late. Thank you.
