2011 Gift Guide: Kitchen Gifts

Dec 13, 2011

Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer ($295).  A perennial wedding registry favorite, this is the ultimate gift for any baker or cook. You will be amazed at how indispensable it becomes, and how many little attachments (pasta makers, sausage fillers, juicers) can be purchased to go with it.  Make your Mom, Grandma or baking minded Brother very happy this holiday.

OXO Stainless Mandoline ($100).  I always thought that I hated cooking.  Then, I realized that I just hated chopping and slicing.  I bought this little machine and now, I cook all the time.

This mandoline will decimate a tomato, onion, carrot, sweet potato or salami in about four seconds.  It cuts prep time to nothing.  I love it so much, I give preference to recipes that allow me to slice things.

Joseph-Joseph Nesting Bowls ($49).  So much more than just bowls, this eight piece set includes a large bowl, colander, sieve, small bowl, and 4 measuring cups.  It’s the perfect gift for the cook, the new homeowner or a college students first apartment.  Plus, it’s pretty and colorful.

Hamilton Beach Electric Kettle ($17).  My Nana has one of these and she uses it all the time.  She makes tea and coffee with it.  She heats up soup with it.  She even prepares boiling water for pasta noodles with it.

This kettle is the perfect gift for co-worker who drinks a lot of tea or cocoa.  The college student who lives in the dorm.  Or the older relative who really should not be carrying heavy water filled pots or lighting a gas burner for every cup of tea.

A less expensive option for the chopper: https://tinyurl.com/72k3ymp. Probably not as versatile, but I love it.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
