BPGP: Homemade Face Mask for Smaller Pores

Feb 5, 2010

Since I can’t move to a warm desert climate where my pores would shrink back down to normal size, I spend a fortune on products that claim to make them smaller.  Recently, I realized that this money could be put to better use and I started searching for a homemade product that doesn’t cost $75 per ounce.  The result was a gritty paste that smelled like moldy wet towel but works like a dream.  Here is the recipe:

Step One: Add teaspoon of brewer’s yeast to 1/2 cup plain non-fat yogurt. Stir well then place in the refrigerator overnight.

Brewer’s yeast can be found in most health food stores and vitamin shops.  It can also be purchased online in large quantities.

Step Two: When you’re ready to apply the mask, wash your face as you would ordinarily. Follow with a scrub made of granulated sugar and a few drops of diluted apple cider vinegar. Rinse well with tepid water and allow skin to air dry.

Step Three: Using a foundation brush or fan brush, apply a fairly thick layer of the masque to your face and leave on for 30 minutes.

Step Four: Rinse well with tepid water (not hot water!), then run an ice cube or cold compress across the skin.  This will help close the pores.  Pat skin dry and moisturize as usual.

When I did this, I noticed some improvement.  The esthetician who sent me the recipe swears that if I use the mask once per week, I will see better results over the course of a month.  She also says that if my acne doesn’t get better as a result she will offer me free services for a year.  Clearly, she trusts this product.

Saw It On Social: Rooted

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]
