Long Read. Have financial confessionals normalized absurd spending habits? and also How much money is enough?

As I gear up to get back into working out, I decided to buy a few new pieces of workout gear to help motivate me.  Cute workout gear helps me feel my best when I’m panting like I just ran a marathon when I only walked a mile.

Old Navy always has cute, colorful workout gear.  I love this bright coral top and this long line mauve sports bra.  Old Navy also offers a plus-sizes line.

If you think a new piece of workout wear might motivate you to get back into it, stop by Old Navy.

I love my local buy nothing group! I feel good about giving things away and not throwing them in the trash or wasting my time trying to sell things that likely wont be purchased. And the focus on local and neighborly is really nice. I have given away books and decorative items. And received toys and sporting equipment. I am in between homes right now, but hoping when we settle permanently I might be able to get some outdoor furniture or playroom furniture from the group!

buy nothing groups are huge here in seattle. it’s a great way to ‘meet’ neighbors and great to upcycle items that aren’t necessarily accepted at your local charity – we’ve given up extra paint, an old toilet (!), extra bricks or soil from the garden, and more.

  3. Kris says:

I’m wearing that long-line sports bra right now and I love it! I find it runs a tad large, so consider sizing down if you’re between sizes.

  4. Erin says:

My son and I love That’s It bars. Costco has been carrying a bag of mini size bars which are a perfect mid-afternoon “treat”.

I’ve purchased quite a few Old Navy workout pieces over the past year and I have to say their High-Waisted Elevate Built-In Sculpt 7/8-Length Compression Leggings are far and away my favorite! Perfect length, super comfortable, and I love the compression (which I initially thought I would hate). They’re expensive for an Old Navy item when not on sale, but since it’s Old Navy they’re on sale every other week it seems like. Highly recommend!

    • Molly says:

I came here to say pretty much the exact same thing. The majority of my workout gear is Old Navy and these are by far my favorite leggings from them! Also a big fan of their boatneck long-sleeve performance tops. Great for layering for cold-weather exercise, but can pass for a “real” shirt on a zoom call if I’m already dressed for a run 🙂

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
