The Best New Arrivals at Boden

Aug 8, 2018

Do you ever shop at Boden?  The UK retailer might not have the name recognition of a Reiss or a Zara, but it is a great little shop.  The pieces are fun, work-appropriate, and reasonably priced.  Here are their newest pieces for the summer-to-fall transition.

Elodie Wrap Dress ($140, also in petite and tall)

Let’s start with a great basic.  I adore the slightly balloon sleeve on this otherwise basic wrap dress.  I also like that Boden stocks so many petite/tall versions of its pieces.  This dress is likely to become a closet staple for any woman.  If you prefer pants, they also make this sleeve in a wrap top, which I am going to have to buy in the red/navy print.

Annie Pointed Slingbacks ($170)

Boden’s shoe section is always my favorite.  But this season is especially scrumptious.  These slingbacks are sublime.  I also think I need these Mary Jane-style pumps; so cute in a vintage kind of way.

Sarah Ponte Top ($70)

If you’re one of those ladies who never knows what top to wear with trousers or a pencil skirt, this is a great option.  It’s more relaxed than a button down, but more interesting than a basic tee.  I love the slightly 1950s vibe it has going.

Serena Midi Skirt ($120, also in petite)

I love this dotted print skirt.  One of the model photos shoes it with a pair of tall, high-heel boots and it looks amazing.  The interplay of the flowy skirt and the staid leather is fabulous.

Evie Leopard Flat ($140)

I’m desperate for these.  Of course, I am.  They’re a sassy leopard flat.  They’re everything.  They also come in mustard and navy, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Sadie Silk Top ($170)

Unlike so many “silk” blouses, this one is actually 100% silk.  Maybe that’s why it’s so pricey.  But the floral print and the cheery yellow makes it the kind of unique piece that you’ll love to wear.

Flippy Pencil Dress ($170)

I can’t decide about this dress.  The first time I saw it, I thought the print was fantastic.  But it feels a little heavy, maybe this belt would help?  Regardless, I think it’s such a fun shape, I might just grab it in another color.

Question about Boden Petites sizes. How do they fit? Are they similar to Ann Taylor petites? I’ve ordered regular sizes before and I was swimming in them.

    • Belle says:

I don’t know the answer to that question, but I think Jean at Extra Petite has worn boden before, so if you search her site, she probably has a mention of how they fit.

Where’s the background image (with the blue plates) from? I can’t figure out how to isolate it to do a reverse image search, but I’m on the hunt for china…

The first time I used it, I put up the link. Let me see if I can find that post. I found it initially on Pinterest.

What did you think about the (Gucci) RepliKate dress they have?

  5. Kate says:

Ever since J. Crew’s quality took a nose dive, Boden has seen most of my business (particularly for work dresses). Most of my wardrobe now consists of their dresses, which are comfortable and happily work appropriate. (and they make some cute things for the weekends, too!)

  6. Nancy says:

I love some of their clothing and bought a pink med. weight coat I have worn a lot. I wonder tho about dresses/skirt…they look like they are cut for someone fairly thin ….pretty straight/substantial knits. Can a curvy size 16/18 wear their clothing? I know the sizing goes up that far but also know that doesn’t mean they are generous size wise. Thanks.

I’m your size and build and Boden is FABULOUS! Flattering but not too tight. Start with the lined Ottoman dresses. The fabric plus the lining is smoothing without strangling you, and it has the right amount of stretch for a hourglass. Have fun!

What is the country of origin for Boden clothes typically?

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
