The Must-Have Under-$30 Dress

3/4 Sleeved Jersey Dress ($29)

I bought this dress last month as a throw-on for afternoon errands.  But every time I wear it, women tell me how great it looks, they stop me on the street to ask me where I bought it, and no one believes that it’s Old Navy.  It’s perfectly ruched at the waist to accent in all the right places and shape those areas that need it.

I’ve worn this dress with high heels and a stack of multi-tone bracelets to celebratory drinks.  I’ve worn it with a long, turquoise necklace and sandals to dinner with my parents.  I’ve worn it with open-toe flats and a colorful cardigan to class.  It seems like whenever I don’t know what to wear, I’m reaching for this dress.

Other Old Navy pieces worth checking out?  This cable sweater dress would look great with chocolate tights and tall boots (or grey, if you prefer).  This gauzy, navy-printed scarf is sublime.  I also like this simple, striped-jersey dress for any season.

I bought the small and it’s a bit snug, I tried on the medium and it was more daytime appropriate, so at this price, I have both.

You guys . . . no more blaring Tresemme ad. (At least not for me.) Hooray! Thanks, Belle, for whatever you did to make it stop…

How is this dress at hiding or showing the lumps and bumps? This fabric/style tends to not be too forgiving.

The ruching helps conceal unevenness. As another reader mentioned, it can get a bit figure hugging. I wore it to class with a long cardigan and it was no problem, but the fabric is not super forgiving by any means.

I bought this dress in black – when it was available in black last month. I love it. Just a warning, at least in the black, it is very fitting – should i say – or to be more blunt, if you have any hint of a figure it will be va-va-va-voom level. Just a tid bit 🙂

I sized up, it did need it. But I kind of liked the tighter look too. Just depends what you’re going for.

I recently bought the striped jersey dress and I think it’s fabulous! Good quality fabric and a nice fit that will go well into fall.

Ugh, damn you and your suggestions. I was eyeing this last week and thought that I didn’t need it. This week, you made me realize I needed it 😉 At 30% off you can’t go wrong, though. I ended up getting two dresses for $38 online! 🙂
