Several weeks ago, you, my lovely readers, turned out in droves to vote for my nail polish shade in the Birchbox/Zoya contest. And now, after what seemed like a lifetime of waiting, my shade (Belle by Capitol Hill Style) is finally ready to be revealed. Hooray!
The Capitol Hill Style polish is being sold in a trio with the shades created by the other contest winners. The middle shade is a gorgeous grapefruit created by Kate at The Small Things Blog. Also in the trio is a bright tangerine from the ladies at Eleventh Gorgeous. And my polish, Belle (on the far left), is a pinky-coral with copper iridescence.
If you apply one coat of Belle, you get a bright, but sheer, shimmery pink that adds just a kiss of color to your fingertips. You can also layer this polish over the other two shades to create the perfect pedicure polish. I, however, like to apply three coats of the buildable formula to create a deep coral-pink shade with just the right amount of lustre to my toes.
For those of you who are concerned about toxic chemicals in your beauty products, Zoya’s polishes are free of harmful ingredients like toluene, formaldehyde, DBP, and camphor. But unlike some “green” polishes, Zoya’s products last about 50 percent longer than other brands.
The shades are being sold exclusively by Birchbox. They’re selling the polishes now for those of you who are interested in purchasing the Zoya Blogger Collection by Birchbox ($22). (If you haven’t subscribed to Birchbox yet, you can get an invite here. You may end up on a waiting list, but it typically takes just a month to get off the list. What can I say? They’re popular.)

My favorite is road-tripping to an ice cream store not too far from where I went to college. It's way out in the country, and about 2 hours from where I live now, but it sells the best ice cream you'll ever taste — and it's made on site. Sitting in one of the store's patios with a waffle cone full of double chocolate is unbeatable.

My favorite warm weather activity is to drive the 3 hours to where my best freind lives and then we take a canoe out to the middle of the lake that borders Tanglewood, and just drift and listen to the music of whichever band or orchastra is playing at Tanglewood. Its a great way to spend the occasional summer evening – catching up with a good freind and listening to some great music.

Participating in a friendly Community Game of Softball down at the local Park followed by an Evening of BBQ Tailgating while watching the Kids run around in the Field. 1st Game Starts in 3 weeks and I can't wait!

I can't decide whether I prefer wine tasting or going on a long hike! But maybe going on a long hike, showering up, and then going wine tasting. I live in the Willamette Valley in Oregon where these activities can all be done just a couple minutes from home. Beautiful polishes and congrats!

I look forward to the Kentucky Derby to start every summer. I love to wear a big hat and see what everyone else has one. Plus you can't beat a mint julip!
